In the traditional Igbo calendar a week (Igbo: Izu) has 4 days (Igbo: Ubochi) (Eke, Orie, Afแปr, Nkwแป), seven weeks make one month (Igbo: แปnwa), a month has 28 days and there are 13 months a year. In the last month, an extra day is added. The traditional time keepers in Igboland are the priests or Dibia.
In Ogidi, the third day of the week is Afor. The names” ๐ข๐ธ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ” and โโ๐ก๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ” were historically given to men born on this day, however in communities in southern Igboland, the variant โโ๐ข๐ธ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ” is also common. Women were given the name โโ๐ ๐ด๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ””.
