The Igbos Do Not Believe That Death Is The End Of A Person’s Existence, See What They Believe In

Spread the love

The Igbo sees death as a transition to the other part of life ( life with the ancestors in spiritual realm).

This is why the Igbos usually say that someone has gone to be with his forefathers, instead of saying he has died.

The manner at which a person joins his ancestors is of great significant to the Igbos as well.

A man who dies without a child is said to have joined his ancestors with two eyes closed,

The one who has children is said to have joined his ancestors with just an eye closed.

The Igbos forbids any of their own to be buried out of their ancestral homes.

This is why plenty is spent to make sure a corpse is returned home to be buried amongst its people….Seê _ Morê
