Whenever We Tell This Benin And Ijaw Chauvinist That We The Ikwerre People Are Igbos, They Don’t Believe, See More Reasons That Prove Ikwere Are Igbos

Whenever we tell this BENIN and Ijaw chauvinist that we the Ikwerre people are Igbos because we speak IGBO, bear Igbo names and possesses Igbo character as evidence of our resemblance, they will tell you that
“Language is not the only parameters to knowing a person’s origin”

Now like they claimed, if you remove language which is not a parameter or criteria for a people’s ancestry, the only variables left to determine or ascertain origin of a people is:

1. SPIRITUALITY
2. TRADITION and
3. CUSTOMS.

All the deities you see in Benin. Ogun, Osun, Sango, Orunmila, Esu, Ososomaye, Olokun, Ayelala etc, are all Yoruba men or Orisha. In case you don’t understand me, What I am saying here is that, the above mentioned names of Benin gods were actually humans from Yoruba land who once lived on earth but were given the status of a god which they (benin’s) worship till date. Isn’t that funny?

Ok, since language is not the parameters to justify a person’s origin but Spirituality, Traditions and custom, then we are right to address the Benin people as Yoruba’s considering the fact that all their Oba’s up to date are children of Oranmiyan, the son of Oduduwa who hails from Oyo. Same man named the people ILE-IBINU meaning: children of vexation.

Judging from the parameters for origin, The Ikwerre’s possesses all Igbos attributes.
Our dialect is IGBO
Our names are Igboid
The names of our gods are Amadioha, arusi. The names of our supreme deity is CHINEKE, CHUKWU OKIKE. We all practice the OFO/OWHOR system of justice and power. Unlike the Benin women who only tie one wrapper, the Ikwerre women tie two wrappers like their South East relatives, we practice the Igbo four (4) market days namely: EKE ORIE AFO NKWOR, We observe the Omennali/Umanala traditional age grade systems, our masquerades are Ekpo/Mmanwu/ Agaba. We eat same food. Unlike the benin’s who have tribal marks on their faces, the Ikwerre’s do not have tribal marks. Our progenitors bear Igbo names.

Where exactly is the Benin/Ikwerre affinity? No Ikwerre traditional stool have the eben and ada Sceptre system of the Benin people. What is wrong with this expansionist?

Let this be as a warning, keep Ikwerre out of your Benin falsehoods, we’re Igbos with Ikwerre identity…..Seê _ Morê
