Christiana Oluwasesin was a Nigerian teacher who met a tragic end on March 21, 2007. She worked at a school called Government Day Secondary School in Gandu, located in Gombe State, Nigeria. Her death was a result of a violent attack by a mob after she was falsely accused of tearing the Quran, the holy book of Islam.

The unfortunate incident began when Christiana was supervising an exam. She noticed one of her students with a bag, which she took away to prevent cheating. Inside the bag was a Quran, although Christiana did not know this at the time. The student, upset that her bag was taken, accused Christiana of tearing the Quran.

According to Oldnaija This false accusation quickly spread, causing a lot of anger among the local Muslim community. People were very upset because the Quran is considered sacred in Islam. The rumor that Christiana had damaged the holy book made many people furious.

A large group of angry people, or a mob, gathered at the school. They believed the false story and did not give Christiana a chance to explain herself. The mob grabbed her and dragged her outside the school. They began to beat her severely, showing no mercy. Despite her cries and attempts to tell them she was innocent, the mob continued their brutal attack.

The situation escalated even further. The mob, driven by their anger and belief that Christiana had disrespected their holy book, set her on fire. Christiana suffered horribly and died from the injuries caused by the beating and the fire. The police and school officials could not stop the mob in time to save her.

Christiana’s death shocked many people both in Nigeria and around the world. Human rights groups and religious leaders condemned the attack……..Díscóvér Móré
