Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has affirmed that despite ongoing political crises, his administration remains steadfast in delivering dividends to the people. He attributes this resilience to divine grace and the support from former governor Dr. Peter Odili and Senator John Mbata. Speaking at a banquet celebrating his first year in office and the state’s 57th anniversary at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara expressed gratitude for the backing his government has received.

According to a statement by Chief Press Secretary Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara acknowledged that while others might celebrate a full year of service, his administration’s effective governance truly began in the last four months, marked by prudence and purposefulness. He expressed gratitude to supporters, reflecting on the uncertainty that clouded the start of the year. “We never knew we could even stand up till today,” he admitted, highlighting the administration’s fortitude.

According to The PUNCH reports, Fubara said, “The last time I had this opportunity to dine with you was on January 1, 2024, and you know, the mood was not like this. We never knew we could even stand up till today”. The governor emphasized his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy, pledging not to compromise on the state’s interests.

Highlighting his administration’s dedication, Fubara pointed to the Trans-Kalabari Road project, a significant undertaking costing over N225 billion. He emphasized that despite not being from the riverine axis, his government is committed to the project, which aims to enhance security, spur development, and reduce water piracy and boat mishaps in remote areas previously accessible only by sea. “We believe that when this project is completely delivered, security issues will be reduced, development will come to our people in far remote areas,” he asserted…..Séé Móré
