The Lord said that it is not good for a man to be alone, therefore he will make a suitable helper for him. We all know that everyone has a suitable helper in life, so people who marries unsuitable helpers always tend to have difficult marriages. There is a person in the Bible who married his sister, and they lived together until death.
We all knows that societies doesn’t allow such thing, so many of doesn’t understand why Abraham married his sister. The Bible tells us in the book of Genesis that Abraham had a sister and two brothers, and they were living in the land of Ur.
The Bible tells us that Abraham and Sarah had the same mother, but their father were different. They shared a womb with one mother, so they are actually related. We all know that God forbids marriages among brother and sister, and he even cursed such marriages.
Abraham married Sarah long time ago, by then God had not yet issued forbidden the marriages among siblings. He forbid the marriage among blood related people in the book of Deuteronomy, and we all knows that this book was written by Moses later on.
Many people in the Bible married their relatives, and we all know that this kind of marriage is not good. We are today living in a new world, and our societies doesn’t allow such things.
Abraham confirmed that Sarah was his sister, when they went to live in Egypt. He told Sarah to say that she was his sister, because he was afraid that the Egyptians might kill him.
