A male controls a Saudi woman’s life from the time of her birth till the time of her death. Every woman in Saudi Arabia is supposed to have a male guardian, who is typically her father or husband, however on occasion a brother or a son will represent her. Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that treats women as very subhuman.
Despite the extremely challenging conditions, several Saudi women have flown. Women’s freedom to travel the world is most severely constrained in Saudi Arabia. Women are not allowed to apply for passports without their male guardian’s agreement.
Without the approval of a male guardian, Saudi Arabian women are not allowed to pursue government-sponsored studies overseas. The official requirement, which is not usually endorsed, requires for a male relative to live with them while they pursue their studies overseas.
