In 1906, Klara Hitler found a lump on her breast but didn’t get help until January 1907 due to severe pain. Her doctor, Dr. Bloch, warned the family that her chances were slim without a mastectomy, which Adolf Hitler, deeply upset, agreed to.
The surgery showed the cancer had spread. Adolf returned from Vienna to care for her, even trying an experimental treatment that caused her great pain. Despite this, Adolf was grateful for any relief Dr. Bloch could provide.
Klara Hitler died on December 20th, 1907, leaving Adolf devastated. He stayed by her side, sketching her before allowing neighbors to remove her body.
