In the entertainment industry of South Africa, we have witnessed the unfortunate departure of several exceptional talents. These losses have not only affected us as a nation but have also left deep voids within the lives of their families. In particular, a number of our beloved female celebrities found themselves widowed at a young age due to the sudden loss of their husbands. Let’s take a look at a few such instances:
Tsholo Matshaba.
Tsholo Matshaba gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of the gold digger in the popular show “Muvhango.” In December, she became engaged to former DJ Chris Matshat. Tragically, their marital bliss was cut short when Chris was diagnosed with cancer. He succumbed to this devastating illness in February 2018, leaving Tsholo as a grieving widow.
Simphiwe Ngema, aged 27.
The year 2017 marked a deeply tragic event in Simphiwe’s life—the untimely death of her husband. Dumi Masilela, her partner, was tragically killed in a violent kidnapping just two months after their intimate traditional wedding ceremony in August 2017.
Ayanda Ncwane, aged 34:
On December 5th, 2016, the Gospel music world mourned the loss of the legendary Sfiso Ncwane, who passed away from fatal kidney failure. Ayanda, his beautiful wife, was left devastated by his departure. She has since shared her heart-wrenching experiences, revealing that she finds solace in tearful prayers every night, hoping for his return.
Letshego Zulu, aged 33:
At the tender age of 32 in 2016, Letshego Zulu faced an unimaginable tragedy—the loss of her husband. He was attempting to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro as part of the Trek4Mandela expedition, which aimed to raise funds for providing sanitary pads to schoolgirls.
