According to Bloomberg magazine, Nigeria is one of the countries in Africa that has been slapped with arms embargo. US refused to sell fighter jets to them, claiming human right abuses against it citizen by military. This prompted the government to invest heavily to develop its own weapons industry. Here are the latest and most deadly weapons that have been produced so far.
1. Rocket propelled Grenades Launcher
It is anti-tank shoulder Grenade weapon system. It is effective against bunkers, vehicles, low level helicopters and UAVs.
2. Andoni Seawards Defence Boat 1
Was built by Nigerian Navy Engineers in a period of four and half years. It is one of the best Nigerian made weapon available.
3. Proforce Ava Mine Resistance Vehicle
It was unveiled in August 2017 by president Muhammadu Buhari. It has thick and hard body thus can sustain explosive attacks from Boko Haram.
4. Amebo Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
It is used for surveillance by Nigerian army to locate the position of Boko Haram.
5. Star Tiltrotor
It is used for aerial surveillance at the range of 5 kilometres. They are fitted with 250 kg bomb that is activated remotely to destroy intended targets.
6. Missiles
Nigeria has one of the most successful missile industry in Africa. They are just behind South Africa, a country that exports weapons to Europe and Asia.
